Personal Review of my Songwriting Workshop

Organising and running the music workshop really helped me to improve my time management and organisational skills. Planning the workshop helped me understand how long different elements would take. It also helped me to work out how to make everyone feel involved regardless of their previous musical experience of ability. The workshop helped me learn how to transfer my own skills in a group environment and lead a group while also being a member of a team.

If I could improve on anything it would be time management. It was difficult to keep to the time constraints I had set myself and once everyone's creative juices got flowing it was easy to get carried away and lose focus.
If planning a similar workshop in the future I would definitely give myself better time buffers between elements of the task.

I definitely think that running the workshop gave me the confidence to do something like this again. It made me realise how much I enjoy sharing my passion for music with other people.

Overall, my favourite parts of the song writing workshop was how we all worked together as a team to make decisions and incorporate ideas into making the song. I enjoyed encouraging everyone to play, sing and include their own thoughts and opinions, so everyone could have their part in the song writing process. I also enjoyed how this workshop challenged me and built up my confidence. I'm currently building on these skills as I plan to organise more workshops and activities like this one in the near future. Along side helping me tone and develop these skills, the overall experience of my arts leadership project turned out to be super fun and enjoyable, and we all ended up with a pretty good song after 3 hours time.

Matilda says “I really enjoyed this workshop! Boo let everyone include their own ideas and thoughts so it was a real team effort. I loved spending time with my friends and the relaxed, atmosphere which made the whole experience that much more fun!”

Seraphina says “ I think Boo did a great job leading this song-writing workshop! She definitely planned everything so we all got to contribute. My favourite part of the experience was the way we used fun methods to decide on our theme, lyrics and melody, and I loved the singing and recording process a lot too!”

Rose says “The workshop was really fun! I loved hearing everyone’s ideas! We all had a chance to get involved.. I really loved recording the song and was able to play along with my Guitar. It was a wonderful feeling when we played it together with all of the instruments, it sounded great!”
