My Storyboard: Unit 1B

My Storyboard
Before filming my music video I decided to create a short storyboard as a basic idea for how I wanted it to go.
Since my song was mainly about fire, I decided to make 'nature, fire and sunlight' the main themes of the music video. I decided to create a real campfire in the woods that I could sit by, so that I could include some real fire in the music video without making it too difficult to film.
I filmed each scene over a period of about two weeks so that I could get a short recording from every place I wanted to go to shoot the video.

Recording my Song
IN THE STUDIO
Me and my dad recorded my song at my friends studio.
He played his guitar and I used the drum machine.
After we decided on the instrument we were going to use, we began to practice the song a few times before recording, which took about half an hour.
We had already figured out how we wanted the guitar to go and practiced it many times together at home.
We recorded the guitar first and added a few layers of it to the song. This took about 1 hour.
Then we played around with the recording machine and the different volumes and sounds we could add to the guitar layers to make them sound even cooler. This took about another hour to do. Then, after a short break we went on to recording the voice.
This took quite a few takes to do since this song was pretty hard to sing and didn't leave much room for breathing. So I decided to record it in two halves to make it a little easier to sing, and would sound stronger too. This took around 1 hour to complete.
After playing around with the volumes of the voice, we decided to record the drums. I played the drum machine for the second verse, chorus and break for the song and this didn't take too long to do.
After all that, we took the CD copy home with us and listened over it for about a week to hear if anything need improving or adding to the song to make it sound better.
Then we went back to the studio and spent about 3 hour playing around with the guitar and voice layers of the song and making minor changes until we were happy.
